Inclusive North

History

More than two decades of building voice, power and racial equity.

From a small Lancashire network to an influential racial equity infrastructure organisation, our identity has evolved whilst our purpose has remained constant.

1995: Lancashire Wide Network for Ethnic Women Minority founded

This was the beginning of the journey.

1996: BME Pact founded

A collective platform is created to bring Black and Minority Ethnic organisations together, strengthen representation and give communities a clearer voice.

2011: Lancashire Wide Network for Ethnic Women

Name change to Lancashire Women's Network.

2014: Lancashire Women's Network dissolved and merged with BME Pact into Lancashire BME Network

The new name reflecting a broader role: connecting organisations, building capacity and influencing decisions across Lancashire.

2014: Core work of Lancashire BME Network

Being a key and integral time, due to the pandemic with LBN helping communities accessing information, support and resources, whilst amplifying inequalities exposed by the pandemic.

2024: Trading name of Lancashire BME Network to Inclusive North

Our new identity reflects a broader ambition whilst remaining rooted in Lancashire.

Present Day

We connect communities, strengthen organisations, distribute investment, influence policy and bring lived experience into the decisions that shape Lancashire.

Our name has changed. Our reach has grown. Our commitment to racial equity remains at the heart of everything we do.
